EPISODE 101 – THE SHUTTLE - The complicated nature of machinery that makes space flight possible is examined. Shot on location at the National Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC.
EPISODE 102 – A TIME OF APOLLO -The legacy of the Apollo missions is
examined, along with a look at a remarkable NASA robot called DANTE. The show
also explores NASA’s efforts at transferring technologies to civil aviation.
EPISODE 103 – THE FLIGHT OF APOLLO 7 - In October 1968, NASA turned to
one of its veteran astronauts, Wally Schirra, to take the Apollo Command Module
on the first manned voyage of the Apollo era.
EPISODE 104 – DEBRIEF: APOLLO 8 - December 1968: Astronauts Frank Borman,
Jim Lovell and Bill Anders pilot their Apollo 8 Command Module on the first
trip ever around the moon.
EPISODE 105 – APOLLO 17: ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS - This episode chronicles
the last voyage of project Apollo to the moon, marking the last time humans
walked on our nearest planetary neighbor.
EPISODE 106 – APOLLO 14: MISSION TO FRA MAURO - This episode chronicles
the flight of Astronauts Alan Shepherd, Edgar Mitchell and Stuart Roosa.
EPISODE 107 – THE FLIGHT OF APOLLO 11 - July 20, 1969, is the day the
first visitors from planet Earth set foot upon the moon. Astronauts Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin,
Michael Collins and Neil Armstrong made the first historic trip to another
world.
EPISODE 108 – APOLLO 10, TO SORT OUT UNKNOWN - This episode features
veteran Astronauts John Young, Eugene Cernan and Tom Stafford on the Apollo
10 mission, as well as a look at the X-30 mockup, a space spin-off with lifesaving
applications for heart attack victims, and a trip to NASA’s planned Space
Station Freedom.
EPISODE 109 – GEMINI VIII: "THIS IS HOUTSON, FLIGHT" - The
sheer test piloting skills used by Neil under extreme pressure is probably
the only reason Gemini 8 did not end in disaster. This show also features a
look at energy sources for the future, including the moon and a look at the
Greenhouse Effect on Earth.
EPISODE 110 – IN THE MOUNTAINS OF THE MOON - Apollo 15 is featured in
this episode as well as the debut of the Lunar Rover.
EPISODE 111 – NOTHING SO HIDDEN - During the Apollo 16 mission, Astronauts
John Young and Charley Duke drove their lunar rover around the crater Descartes.
The rest of the episode studies the airplane. Shot on location at the NASA
Goddard Space Flight Center’s Magnetic Flux Facility.
EPISODE 112 – FRIENDSHIP 7 - John Glenn’s flight, February 20,
1962, was rather anticlimactic when compared to today’s voyages of the
Space Shuttle. This episode features a chat with Senator Glenn in his Washington
office combined with historic footage of the mission.
EPISODE 113 – "HOUSTON, WE’VE GOT A PROBLEM" - The flight
of Apollo 13 started as a textbook mission. The Saturn V thundered the crew
perfectly on course to the moon – then the unthinkable – an apparent
explosion rocked the Command Module. The show also includes a segment on Aeronautical
Oddities.
EPISODE 114 – 123 – These cover unmanned missions to Mars and deep
space, repairing the Hubble Space Telescope and its latest images, The Columbia
Disaster, The International Space Station and much more.
